Takt was founded in 2003 by three Americans, Jacque Liu, Sarah Burgess and myself. From 2004-2005 I continued the project with Berlin natives Christian Cosgrove and Björn Vogel. Takt Kunstprojektraum is a project devoted to the integration of art within daily life. The central physical component of the project was an exhibition space located at Knorrpromenade 1 in the Berlin-Friedrichshain. Additional aspects included live/work spaces, a basement lounge and performance space at the same location. Takt Kunstprojektraum hosted a series of exhibitions, performances, discussions and workshops during this first phase of it's existense as well as numerous off-site events. Takt Kunstprojektraum works to promote a cross-cultural, heterogeneous community through the experience of art. The project exists as a flexible effort, adapting to input from the surrounding community.
